Former official facing 15 yrs if returned from Pakistan

On Monday Amer Ahmad, a former deputy treasurer for Ohio was sentenced to 15 years in prison, but he was absent from the sentencing. He fled in April and jumped bail and headed to Pakistan on on fake travel documents, the Dispatch reported. Ahmad was charged with bribery, wire fraud and money laundering in a multimillion kickback scheme. He was jailed in Pakistan for the false documents, and if the Pakistani government were to return him to the US he would be jailed here for 15 years, the paper reported.
