UPDATE: Teachers gathered Monday to hear the details of the negotiations that once again went sour Sunday. The union said the board still hadn’t put a hard cap on the class sizes, but said they would attempt to maintain a 25:1 student-teacher ratio, and the union said that sentiment wasn’t good enough. “I would say the morale now, that the spirit is now turning more towards anger on the side of the parents. They have tried everything they can think of to get their message across to our board of education,” said Kathy Evans, REA spokeswoman.

Sunday, Reynoldsburg teachers and the board met once again to discuss a new contract, and once again they left without reaching an agreement. Along with a federal mediator, four hours couldn’t solve the differences between the two sides. “The board continues to negotiate in good faith. We believe we have presented a contract proposal that is fair and reflects the economic realities of our school district,” said superintendent Tina Thomas-Manning. On the other side, the union’s statement read, “We were as unsurprised as we were disappointed that the Board did not come to today’s meeting with an honest attempt to make any progress and end this strike. The Board refused to address movement on any of the issues.”
