Heart of Africa ushering animals indoors

Oddly enough, central Ohio does not have the same weather as Africa would, and that means that for the colder months of the year, the animals inside the Heart of Africa in the Columbus Zoo have to be ushered indoors. Sunday will be the last day of the exhibit and the zoo workers will begin moving the animals indoors. “These are all tropical mammals and animals from the central regions of Africa,” said Doug Warmolts, the zoo’s director of animal care, according to the Dispatch. “They won’t tolerate our cold winters.”

While the slated closing is Sunday, if temperatures dip, the animals will be taken in before that for their health.
