Tuesday a 45-minute memorial was held in Reynoldsburg to honor Stephen Byus, who was a lieutenant junior grade with the Navy Reserve and killed by a suicide bomber who hit a nearby motorcade in Afghanistan. His 6-year-old son and wife sat at Sunday memorial, and read the postcards that their father had sent to the family while he was away. “Dear Jacob, my little buddy,” one read. “I miss you so much. Thanks for being the man in the house while I’m gone.” His funeral is set for Sunday.
