The New York Times created a map of what the United States might look like if college football created the boundaries, and in many cases fandom doesn’t stop at the edge of the state. For a few it does, actually. Ohio State fans spread from Columbus to every edge of the state and spill a bit into bordering states (even you Michigan, even you). Unlike other states that have flecks of support for other teams though, Ohio is unanimously in love with the Buckeyes. “Ohio is a populous state but has only one football program in the Big 5 conferences, so it makes sense that Ohio State has the plurality of fans in every single Ohio ZIP code,” the article said.
