Blizzard Bags: Take home school work for snow days

After this winter’s polar vortex shut down schools, roads and kept many from working, Ohio’s schools are getting blizzard bags. Last year 400 districts in Ohio used the bags in one of the harshest winters in decades, and likely many more will sign up for the new program this year. The “bags” will be take-home work that will be given to students in light of inclement weather that would prevent students from coming to school and help with the extra work load when they came back. The last day for school districts to apply for the blizzard bags is Aug. 1.
