Student charged with inducing panic in school bomb threat
UPDATE: According to Columbus police, a female student has been charged with inducing panic in connection to the bomb threat that disrupted South High School’s morning and let to a lockdown and later evacuation. K-9 units searched the school for bombs or threats but the school was later deemed safe for students to return to. “For any parents, if they are concerned, students are safe, but if they want to come back to the building and get their child, they are able to do so,” said Jackie Bryant, of Columbus City Schools, according to NBC4.
UPDATE: Students at South High School ended their eventful morning by returning to school and normal classes. A bomb threat forced an evacuation, while a bomb squad investigated the situation.
A call came in Tuesday morning for a bomb threat on South High School, saying a bomb would detonate at 9 a.m., NBC4 reported. The school was placed on lockdown and then evacuated, and officers and the Columbus bomb squad arrived on the scene at 8:30 a.m. The students were at Barrett Middle School until about 10:30 a.m. following the threat.
