Wednesday about 592 current and former Columbus City School employees opened a letter taking back bonuses they had gotten from the 2011-12 school year. Many teachers were not making the progress they thought they were as principles and other administrators altered data in attempts to raise school scores. About $400,000 will be taken back from employees because the bonuses were not actually earned, the Dispatch reported. Those who had their bonus taken will have until June 2015 to repay the money.
