Columbus Castings, a steel foundry making steel parts off Parsons Avenue is amping up to nearly double its workforce and add about 500 new jobs to its south side location. This expansion will span over three years with a serious focus on hiring people from the same neighborhood as the steel foundry. “This is one of the most important jobs announcements in the time I’ve been mayor,” said Mayor Michael B. Coleman, according to the Dispatch. Not only will new hires be placed in the factory, but Columbus Castings is also buying $16 million worth of equipment and upgrades.
