The cost to modernize the convention center from it’s warehouse-esque facade could set the city back $125 million. Apparently what was in during the 90s when it was built isn’t as cool now. According to ABC 6, the Franklin County Commissioners talked over the renovation for the Columbus Convention Center Thursday. The facelift includes modernizing the interior as well as adding approximately 36,000 square feet of exhibit space. The Franklin County Convention Facilities Authority wants to back the project by selling bonds as well as through the hotel and motel tax. No fear, hopefully the millions of dollars thrown at this project won’t be totally lost. The idea behind the changes is it should put Columbus on the map for national conventions.
