Forbes delves into one of their 400 richest: Les Wexner
Not shockingly, Les Wexner was named onto Frobes Riches people list and holds the no. 80 spot as a retail genius. The Victoria’s Secret, Pink, Express and The Limited founder, and Columbus native isn’t the typical CEO though, and Forbes delves into how he started his business model, looking at what made money and what didn’t and limiting his inventory in his first store (accurately named The Limited) to move products quickly.
The Victoria’s Secret is 41 percent of the lingerie market and Bath & Body Works is the world’s biggest beauty product store. He’s managed to build a world-wide following despite not having a focus on the international market because of the Victoria’s Secret fashion show that millions of people tune into and CBS pays him to air.
The man has been the leader of his company for 51 years and still shies away from questions on retirement. “If you start painting yourself into a corner, life starts shutting down,” he said, according to Forbes. “There is always hopefully a next.”
