Gahanna students amaze, win competition with quake proof house

After thousands of homes were shattered in the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, engineers around the globe sought ways for sturdier homes. Apparently though it didn’t take an engineer, but a few sixth-grade students. Three students from Gahanna were recently crowned victors at eCYBERMISSION in Leesburg, Va., sponsored by the U.S. Army. Ashton Cofer, Julie Bray and Luke Clay designed a hyperbolic paraboloid house out of bamboo that proved to be earthquake proof.
