I Know I Can wants more
Nonprofit I Know I Can wants to quadruple its high-school counseling staff so that it can put a counselor in each school to help more teens get into college. And while the organization plans to shill out over $430,000 annually over the next four years, it still needs the school district to match that amount. With more money, they could increase their five counselors who each serve four schools, to 20 counselors who each serve just one school. The organization announced the expansion proposal yesterday as Columbus school Superintendent Dan Good and I Know I Can Executive Director Katina Fullen visited the White House for the College Opportunity Day of Action. Baker said he expects the I Know I Can staff to present a proposal to the school board in January, and Good to recommend that the expansion be backed by the district.
