In the name of safety: Campus Partners takes over carryouts
Until approached by Campus Partners, two carryouts in the Weinland Park area weren’t for sale, but Thursday the businesses were closed. Campus Partners, which focuses on revitalizing areas around OSU’s campus, has acquired Kelly’s Carryout and D&J Carryout both located on N. 4th Street for $1.1 million. The sale was above market value, because the owners had to be “persuaded” the Dispatch reported. The purchase was part of a push to reduce crime in the area that had stemmed from the two carryouts. Specific plans for the spaces hasn’t been decided yet, but officials have said the spaces will mirror the progress of surrounding neighborhoods such as Italian Village.
