A judge decided Karl S. Beem, 63, was guilty of vehicular manslaughter Wednesday for a pedestrian’s death that took place near Nationwide Children’s Hospital last year. Beem had waved his right to a trial by jury and the judge decided after hearing from both the prosecution and defense. Beem was a shuttle bus driver who struck two pedestrians who worked in the hospital. He was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol when he lost control and hit the two people, resulting in one death, according to the Dispatch.
