This year’s Independent’s Day will be speckled with lots of local talent, really all local talent since that’s kind of the point of the festival. The fest will be Sept. 19-21, and features Scrawl, The Floorwalkers with Jared Mahone, Two Cow Garage, J. Rawls & Friends and the list goes on and on.

The fest has graced Pearl and Gay Streets since 2008 but will be moved to Franklinton this year. The neighborhood has been held up as a soon to be blossoming arts district, and the fest will move there as part of that growth. “Independents’ Day brought incredible vibrancy to Gay Street over the last few years and helped make that area the success story it is today,” said Mayor Michael B. Coleman in a press release about the move. “I can’t wait to see what happens when they throw an event bringing together thousands of Columbus’ creative minds in Franklinton.”
