Not happening: ‘Dr. Pepper Ohio State-Michigan Jamboree’

The Game has been one of the longest standing rivalries in college football history. A simple reference to The Game and people know what you are talking about. That state up north is a common phrase to describe a very specific state. While some rivalries have sold the title rights to their game, (like the AT&T Red River Showdown for the Texas-Oklahoma game) Ohio State and Michigan aren’t considering it which is why you probably won’t be calling it the Dr. Pepper Ohio State-Michigan Jamboree or any such nonsense for awhile.

Would it be a money maker? You bet. AD Gene Smith though doesn’t want a company butting into the schools’ tradition, he told cleveland.com. A decade ago the schools did agree to rename The Game the SBC Michigan-Ohio State Classic, but then promptly backed out the following day.
