Police investigate school shooting threat made over social media app
Columbus high schools are still on lockdown after Westerville police where shown an anonymous threat posted online. A person went into the Westerville police and showed police a screenshot of a posting on the app Whisper. The post was of a girl wearing only a bra with the message, “I think I’m gonna shoot up my high school tomorrow.” According to a Westerville police dispatcher, it isn’t clear if the post was made in Westerville, or even by someone in Westerville. Area police were informed of the threat, but Westerville schools are not on lockdown.
A spokesman for the Columbus school district said the safety director recommended the high schools be put on level-two lockdown all day (which means no one in or out of the buildings and hallways). Columbus school district, because of its close proximity to Westerville, implemented the recommendation. Even with the lockdown, schools will be dismissed at their usual time.
