Two men were sentenced Monday relating to the death of Nathan Birdsall. Deshawn M. Gray was sentenced to seven years for involuntary manslaughter, tampering with evidence and abuse of corpse, while his accomplice David Givens Jr. was sentenced to three years for abuse of corpse and tampering with evidence, the Dispatch reported. The victim bought heroine off the two men and began to overdose. When Gray saw he was overdosing he attempted to revive him by giving him a shot of cocaine, which did not work. Gray and Givens were videoed at a nearby store purchasing a suitcase. The victim’s body was put into the suitcase and put in a dumpster. The body was found by a man looking for scrap metal the following day.
