A helicopter company that has its base in Columbus was sold for $1.8 billion. Yes, billion. Milestone Aviation not only has local offices in the Arena District but also in Dublin, Ireland and Jersey, and the company specialized in leasing helicopters to commercial operators, because why buy a helicopter when you can just lease one? Milestone owned 168 helicopters, according to the Dispatch and was bought by GE Capital Aviation Services. “The Milestone acquisition is a great fit for GE. It combines (our) global reach and 45-plus years in leasing commercial jets with a fast-growing helicopter financing platform that will diversify our business and put our capital to work at good returns,” said Keith Sherin, CEO of GE Capital, in a release.
