Taxi driver charged with rape

Mahad EyBakar, a licensed cab driver who worked for Central Ohio German Village Taxi, was charged with the rape of a woman he picked up as a taxi fare. He was indicted last week on charges of rape, kidnapping, and gross sexual imposition. According the police and court records, EyBakar picked the woman up near Cleveland Ave. and Hudson St. She told him to take her to The Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center, but he parked the cab near Bridgewalk Street. He then locked the doors and climbed into the backseat, where he fondled her and forced her to perform oral sex.

The woman tried to call police during the assault and the calls were recorded by 911 dispatchers. She was able to escape and grabbed EyBakar’s pants, wallet and cellphone, which she had when police found her. EyBakar was arrested that day.
