Teen allegedly found tied up in park, man charged with sexual battery
While a park ranger was patrolling the Highbanks Park, he allegedly found a Columbus teen girl tied up and partially clothed in a remote area of the park and then was able to detain the suspect Friday afternoon. While the girl was reportedly bound, it won’t be treated as a kidnapping case because the man, Scott W. Spencer, 57, and the 14-year-old girl said they met at the park after meeting online, said Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Tracy Whited. Spencer is facing two counts of sexual battery, and his bond is set at $200,000, the Dispatch reported. According to the paper, prosecutors said that the Friday incident was the second time they had met for sex.
