More arrests made in drug ring linked to Latino grocery stores

Seven more people have been arrested in the drug trafficking ring that police have said is linked to a chain of Latino grocery stores. Those arrests bring the count up to 29 people who have been charged with conspiring to sell cocaine and heroin. Both state and federal agents worked in tandem for search warrants for 10 La Michoacana Mexican markets.

Unlucky 13 arrested in drug ring bust

Tuesday morning, DEA agents swept through the city, on the prowl for 20 people who the agency thought to be part of a drug-trafficking ring. The sweep took place before the sun rose and ended with 13 arrests. The indictment has said the drug ring has been operating for three years, the Dispatch reported, and the charges included intending to distribute cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin. A special agent from the IRS released a statement saying, “By following the money trail, IRS special agents helped to disrupt and dismantle this major drug trafficking organization that attempted to conceal the true source of their money from the government.”
