Local radio station, WCBE 90.5 FM, is following in the footsteps of Columbus bands Saintseneca and Damn the Witch Siren, and has taken back its sponsorship of Fashion Meets Music Festival. The first name on the bill is what has drawn backlash to the festival: R. Kelly. He has a swarm of rumors floating around him including rape, sexual predation and child pornography, and some local views are that R. Kelly should not be supported. The radio station’s general manager Dan Mushalko told Alive, “We have to serve our listeners, and this is what they’re saying. Secondly, a lot of people forget we are part of the Columbus City Schools…since they represent children and they represent teenagers, they didn’t want us associated with the event if R. Kelly was a part of it.”
