Woman says sexual assault stemmed from app-based car service

A woman was attempting to get a ride from the Arena District to her her home in Bexley early Sunday morning when she called a ride through an app-based service. The 24-year-old hopped into a black sedan with a male driver in his early 20s when he pulled up and asked her if she needed a ride, 10TV reported. She asked if he was a cab which he confirmed and she jumped into the car, but when they arrived at her home in Bexley he wouldn’t let her out. According to the report, the driver said, “this is my payment!” and attempted to put his hands into her shorts. “He tried to get on top of me again, and was saying, ‘do you want to die, do you want to die?!’” the victim told 10TV. She said she then kneed him and punched him and fled the car. The police said they don’t believe the man worked for Lyft or other app-based car calling services.
