NHL’s winter wonderland taking shape in Arena District

The Arena District is making progress on its All-Star Winter Park, as the area transforms for the upcoming NHL All-Star celebrations later this month. Columbus will soon be able to enjoy an ice skating rink and snow slide once construction on the attractions are completed.

Some were worried that this morning’s snow might interrupt the ice rink’s construction. But the three-man crew from Rink Specialists (who’ve been working on it since Dec.) expect that’ll be done on time and ready for its Jan. 16 opening.

The rink will be open for public skating, youth hockey, and private events over 10 days (Jan. 16 to Jan. 25). Bleachers will seat 500, alongside a skate rental tent and four heated locker rooms. Admission with skate rental will be $5.

I wonder if it still counts as “going ice skating” if I stay in the heated locker room the entire time?
