Blue Jackets fall to Canucks, 5 – 3

The Columbus Blue Jackets, fresh off of a fairly successful 3-game road trip (2 wins), returned to home ice Tuesday night for a face off with the Vancouver Canucks.

The CBJ struck first with a Boone Jenner power play goal at 6:35 of the opening period. The Canucks came back with two scores of their own to put the Jackets in the hole. Columbus’ Jack Johnson would match Jenner with a power play goal to bring the CBJ even at the end of the opening 20 minutes.

Both goalies were solid through period two leaving us tied heading into the final frame. Cam Atkinson recorded a shorthanded goal to put Columbus ahead again. And just like that…bang!…bang!…bang!…Vancouver scores three unanswered goals to take the win over the CBJ, 5 – 3.

Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 25 of 29 shots in the loss.

Columbus’ next match-up is on the road this Friday night in Pittsburgh.  (jj)
