CBJ deals player to Minnesota after 11 year-old daughter pleads for trade

The Blue Jackets have traded defenseman Jordan Leopold to the Minnesota Wild. The moves comes after Leopold’s 11 year-old daughter wrote a letter to team officials with the Wild asking them to make a deal and bring her daddy home to Minnesota. I know…..its adorable.

In the letter, Leopold’s daughter Jordyn says that she, her mom, her two sisters and brother have been lost while living so far apart from her father. Meanwhile, she says that her dad has been lonely playing in Columbus while surrounded by a bunch of young guys. She adds that Minnesota has been playing like crap and could probably use another defenseman like her dad. (Okay…those are my words…not hers…but the point is the same.)

Officials with both clubs say that they were unaware of the letter until the deal was already in place. And later, there was this tweet from Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen.
