It was a tough loss last weekend when the Columbus Crew SC fell to the Portland Timber in the MLS Cup Final. The night was an exciting one to be sure, and one lasting image of it…for many fans watching at home…is of a woman flipping the middle finger on LIVE television and broadcast around the globe.
The moment came as the MLS commissioner was recognizing the great fans of Columbus.

In an email interview this week, she explained why she flipped the bird. She says that she felt like her emotions were being exploited and she didn’t want her’s to be the face representing disappointed fans.
