Eyes of the sports world return to Nationwide Arena

The last time that the country looked-in on Nationwide Arena, it was January and the venue was hosting the NHL All Star Game. The eyes of the sports world return this weekend with the arena set to host six games of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament. Four games happen in Columbus on Friday with West Virginia vs Buffalo and Maryland vs Valpraiso both airing on TNT. Those games will be followed by Oklahoma vs Albany and Providence vs Boise State / Dayton to air on truTV. Two more games happen on Sunday featuring the winners of Friday’s contests.

The Greater Columbus Sports Commission estimates that $10 million will be brought in to the local economy thanks to the games.  (jj)
