Former Ohio State coach recovering from stroke
Former Buckeye head football coach Earle Bruce is recovering today from a stroke.
The 84 year-old suffered the stroke a few weeks ago at a family reunion in Maryland. (His daughter is just revealing the news today.) Lynn Bruce says that her father is currently going through rehabilitation at Ohio State’s Dodd Hall. She told 610WTVN radio that doctors expect the former coach to make a full recovery.
The radio station’s annual Athletes Against Alzheimer’s event to benefit the Earle & Jean Bruce Alzheimer’s Research Fund at Ohio State will go on as scheduled. Lynn Bruce says that many of the school’s former players will be manning telephones and filling in for her dad.
Earle Bruce led the Buckeyes from 1979 – 1987, putting together an 81-26-1 record with OSU. His teams won four Big Ten championships and he is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. (jj)
