Memorial Tournament crowns first-time winner

It was definitely a remarkable finish for the 2015 Memorial tournament. The man who won the 35th annual event at Muirfield came in to play on Sunday ready to capture the 40th. But it was not to be. 2010 winner Justin Rose led the field as the day began, but at the end of the final round, he found himself in a tie with David Lingmerth at 15 under.

Fans were treated to a 3-hole sudden death playoff…the longest in Memorial history. When it was all over, a successful putt for par sealed the deal for Lingmerth, securing for the 27 year-old Swede the first tour victory of his career.

Other notables: Masters Champion Jordan Spieth finishes in third at 13 under. Last year’s Memorial Tournament winner Hideki Matsuyama finishes tied for fifth at 12 under. Tiger Woods finishes the weekend in last place at 14 over.
