Wendy’s: now serving technology

If you’re heading to South Campus Gateway, you might notice something new in the works: a Wendy’s. But the Dublin-based fast food chain isn’t bringing Frostys and fries to OSU. Instead it’s opening a technology innovation center on (1562) N High St. next month that it hopes will work to better service its customers and business. The tech center, which doesn’t have a name yet, will encompass 8,200sqft of the Gateway’s pedestrian alley in the space formerly occupied by Charlie Bear bar.

So why is Wendy’s putting its newest venture on campus and not near its HQ? Because it wants to attract the energy and excitement of the campus area. So does that mean it really just wants to drunkenly scream “O-H” and jaywalk? (deb)

App Attack: Wendy’s to open tech lab

It looks like Wendy’s is taking a break from using their intellect to make pretzel buns. Instead, they’re looking at opening a tech lab near OSU that’ll help them develop and test new apps (and other “technologies”) for its consumers and restaurants. Wendy’s has already been testing out the possibility of ordering apps, but the chain wants to find new ways to drive sales by being more relevant.

I’m all for Wendy’s developing new ways for me to enjoy a Frosty, but I’m still waiting for a better sounding Drive-Thru speaker box. (deb)
