Live long and prosper, Leonard Nimoy dead at 83

“I loved him like a brother. We will all miss his humor, his talent, and his capacity to love.”

– William Shatner

He wasn’t from the (614), but certainly many of his fans are. Leonard Nimoy, the actor who will forever be known as Spock, has died at the age of 83. Nimoy’s television and film career go back to the early 50’s, but viewers didn’t get their first look at him as the logical Vulcan until the CBS premiere of Star Trek in 1966. The show ran for three seasons before its cancelation. Ten year later, Star Trek moved to the big screen with Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Nimoy would appear as Spock in eight feature films and additional guest spots as the character in other projects.

Off-screen, he directed a number of features including Star Treks 3 and 4 and the hit comedy Three Men and a Baby.

He was an accomplished actor, director, writer, musician and a noted philanthropist and activist. He was an icon whose passing leaves fans from here to the final frontier with a feeling of sadness today. RIP Leonard Nimoy.  (jj)
