Adiós, Short North La Fogata
La Fogata is preparing to exit the Short North. Owner George Tanchevski says that the restaurant’s landlord was planning to triple the rent, so he has passed on signing a lease extension. The restaurant will remain open through the end of the term…April 2016. Tanchevski plans to relocate the business.
As for what’s going to replace La Fogata when it vacates its perch on North High Street, that’s already been determined. The owners of another Short North favorite are moving in. Bakersfield proprietors Alex Bust, Joe Lanni and John Lanni will open a new place…The Eagle. Bakersfield and The Eagle are two of five concepts operated by the trio’s Thunderdome Restaurant Group in 27 cities. Eagle specializes in Southern-style comfort food and boasts 100 beers on the drink menu…16 on tap. (jj)
