Iconic LGBT club to close

Screen Shot 2015-12-07 at 12.01.00 PMOne of Columbus’ longest-standing LGBT clubs will soon close its doors.

Owners of Wall Street Night Club (144 North Wall Street) will serve their last drink and cut the music at the end of business on December 31st. The club has released a statement regarding its closure:

The owners of Wall Street Nightclub and Showbar announced today that with bar will close after 28 years of business.

“Financial stress from declining business and deteriorating building conditions were compounded by the loss of parking with condo development in the neighborhood and the loss of third party production companies,” said Amber Myers, co-owner of Wall Street Nightclub.

The ownership of Wall Street was not able to reach lease terms with the new landlord to allow the club a chance to stabilize and make the improvements needed to attract a new and larger audience.

Shows scheduled through December 31st will still run as planned. “We hope we can go out strong and have one last great month in this historic club,” added club management.
