Do-si-don’t: low cookie sales impacting Girl Scouts

It’s hard to imagine,* but cookie sales across central Ohio are down by over seven figures and the money lost could reduce critical education. Girl Scout CEO Tammy Wharton says, “It’s a large percentage of our budget and a million dollars is a significant portion of what would go to support our girl programs.” The Girl Scouts say the sales might be low for several reasons, but the two likely standouts are low troop participation and a decline in door-to-door selling.

So, with cookie sales running through the end of March, it might be time to do you part and order a box or two. Okay fine! 10 boxes – 10 boxes of Girl Scout cookies.
