Craft beer’s latest stop: Powell

You can’t stop the craft beer domination in Columbus. This time, it’s not Grandview, Clintonville, or even Downtown that’s getting the latest brewery. Rather, it’s Powell. Ill Mannered Brewing Co. is getting the kegs ready for a fall opening at 30 Grace Drive.

“We looked at the restaurants in Powell and clearly there’s a passion for craft brew, but there’s also no brewery within 10 miles. We think Powell can support its own local brewery,” said co-owner Tom Ayers

Ayers, along with Greg Dannemiller,* Brian Mathias and Ryan Romer-Jordan, are excited about the nano brewery – which will work as a three-barrel brewhouse, creating six kegs at a time. Construction has already started on the taproom, and once the licenses and permits are set, they’ll start on the brewery.

Ill Mannered is taking its nano moniker to heart, though. The brewery is just about 1,000sqft (seating 15), but will allow people to bring in outside food. Which is pretty awesome when you realize their neighbors are Brooklyn Pizza and the recently opened Mojo Tago. (deb)

*Ill Mannered is an anagram of Dannemiller’s name
