Poll: Concerns about proposed German Village tavern

Poll: Concerns about proposed German Village tavern

Screen Shot 2015-12-02 at 11.26.21 AMWe told you this week about Rockmill Brewery’s plan to open a tavern in the space currently occupied by Juergen’s Bakery (525 South Fourth Street) in German Village. On Tuesday, Rockmill and Juergen’s went in front of the German Village Commission to talk about the proposal.

Juergen’s owner Rosemarie Keidel wants to lease the building to Rockmill but continue to sell her baked goods from a small area inside. Rockmill would replace Juergen’s parking lot with an outdoor patio to accommodate more customers for the tavern.

Many neighbors who attended last night’s meeting had concerns.

Some questioned the parking situation. Some argued that bringing in additional customers, but losing the lot, would add problems for an area where available parking is already an issue. Others worry about the customers themselves and fear the unexpected from tipsy tavern-goers exiting the bar. Noise was also mentioned as a concern.

What do you think?
