Sweet deal for old Rife’s Market

Rife’s Market closed last fall after nearly 80 years in business. But the little corner shop on Fifth Ave. in Grandview won’t be empty for long. In December, Sweet Carrot food truck owner Angela Petro bought the space and plans to open Sweet Carrot Restaurant this summer.

And for lovers of both the food truck and Rife Market, fear not! The market space will get a refresh, but its structure – awning included – will stay the same. The inside however, will be completely redone to accommodate the restaurant. The menu will be very similar to the food truck’s but with alot more offerings: like pulled pork, braised cabbage, and baked goods including buns and carrot cake.

Is it summer yet? I’m ready to sit outside in the sun and eat a piece of carrot cake. (deb)
