Algae here when you need me

Looks like there’s more than just low water levels wreaking havoc on Buckeye Lake. The ODNR just issued a public health and contamination advisory for the area because of high levels of algal toxins. Earlier this year, the ODNR found high levels of algal toxins and E. coli at three other beaches (Brooks Beach, Crystal Beach, and Fairfield Beach) near Buckeye Lake. The ODNR has specified that people should be on the lookout for harmful algae blooms (HABs). According to the ODNR:

“If you touch HABs, swallow water with HAB toxins or breathe in water droplets, you could get a rash, have an allergic reaction, get a stomach ache, or feel dizzy or light-headed. HABs also are toxic to pets.”
