Sherrod Brown to lead memorial pilgrimage to Selma
Update: To commemorate the (50th) anniversary of Bloody Sunday, Senators Sherrod Brown, Rob Portman, and Representative Joyce Beatty are heading down to Selma, AL today. Senator Brown is also co-leading the 90-member congressional memorial pilgrimage. (deb)

50 years since troopers in Selma, Alabama used violence to beat back peaceful marchers trying to cross the Edmund Pettus Bridge, Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown (D) will co-lead a 90-member congressional delegation in remembrance. South Carolina Senator Tim Scott (R) of South Carolina, the state’s first African-American senator, will co-lead the march with Brown. Ohio Senator Rob Portman (R) will also be a part of the group. The delegation will visit Birmingham, Selma and Montgomery this weekend. (jj)
