Former candidate Ragland endorses Ginther for mayor

Following May’s primary vote in the Columbus mayoral race, Franklin County Sheriff Zach Scott said that he expected that he would receive the support of those that had voted for defeated candidate James Ragland. This week, Ragland threw his support to the frontrunner…Andrew Ginther.

Ragland finished 4th among the four major candidates that were vying to replace Michael Coleman in the mayor’s office. Many expected that he would back Scott in the general election, but that was not to be.

Screen Shot 2015-09-30 at 9.33.16 AMToday I announced my support for Andy Ginther for Mayor. I am proud of this endorsement, and believe me it did not come easy. When I was in the race for Mayor, my priorities included the underserved and underrepresented of our City and that has not changed in any way. I met with both candidates immediately following the primary election and both of them asked for my support. I was very clear that I would only endorse the candidate that truly demonstrated an awareness of the issues that I promoted during my campaign and was open to solving them….it has become clear to me that in spite of our many differences, Andy understands my views on these issues, accepts them, and has asked for my help in bringing solutions to the table to solve them…
