High school student launches political Super PAC
Appearing to take a page out of Stephen Colbert’s 2011 playbook, a Watkins Memorial high school student set out to demonstrate just how easily anyone can launch their own political action committee.
17-year-old junior Cory Steer says that it took him just a few minutes to print and fill out the forms. Once mailed off, it took just ten days to receive word back from the Federal Elections Commission that his Super PAC had been created.
At the time, he says that he didn’t know who he would use the organization to support, but now he’s backing Senator Marco Rubio (R) in his race for president and Ohio’s incumbent Senator Rob Portman (R) in his bid for reelection.
So far, Steer has raised no money. But he hopes to change that and run TV ads.
