Mayor Coleman introduced the city’s third five-year sustainability plan (The Columbus Green Community Plan: Green Memo III) at a special meeting last week of the Columbus Metropolitan Club. The plan, which lists a staggering 178 staggering action items, stresses the urgency of addressing climate change.
The increasing warmer temperatures are affecting the state’s native plants, making it difficult for them to grow here. One major plant that’s being harmed is the buckeye tree. Coleman said, ” It’ll migrate north – to Michigan! We can’t allow that.” (deb)
