“Sip and Stroll” at North Market
For anyone who’s ever thought: “wouldn’t it be great if I could drink this ____ (wine, beer, etc) that I just bought at North Market RIGHT NOW?!” you’re about to get really happy. The Ohio House passed a bill Wednesday that would let you do just that. Under House Bill 37, known as “sip and stroll,” North Market customers would be allowed to open and drink purchased alcohol, all while “strolling” or eating inside the market. Rep. Mike Duffey, (R) – who sponsored the bill with Rep. Michael Stinziano (D) – said:
“It’s that simple. You can’t open that bottle of beer that you buy and enjoy a meal with it. Yet you can do that in almost any supermarket across the state of Ohio. To level the playing field and allow North Market to compete with a conventional supermarket, they need to be able to do the same things a conventional supermarket can do.”
