3-years in prison for accident that killed driver’s girlfriend

The Columbus Dispatch reports that Oscar Staton Jr has been handed a 3-year prison sentence in connection with an auto accident that left his girlfriend dead.

Staton was behind the wheel on the city’s West Side, just after midnight on October 29th of 2013, when his SUV went off the side of the road and rolled. His girlfriend, Jessica Hubble, was thrown from the vehicle. Her injuries proved fatal.

Staton was driving on a suspended license. A drunk driving charge was dismissed as part of a plea agreement for aggravated vehicular homicide. In addition to the prison time, Staton’s license has been suspended for life.

He is being given credit for the 524 days that he has already spent in jail.  (jj)
