Alert – Ohio State student reports sexual assault on campus

Officials at Ohio State University have issued a safety notice to students after a young woman reported being sexually assaulted on campus. The woman is a student at Ohio State and says that the incident happened between 12:30am and 1:30am Sunday morning outside of a construction site near Lane Avenue in the area of the North Campus Residential District.

From Ohio State’s notice:

On Sunday between 12:30am and 1:30am a female student was alone and was pulled into a dark area and sexually assaulted by an unknown male suspect. The incident occurred outside and near the North Campus Residential District and construction site near Lane Ave. Suspect is reportedly a college-aged male white, blond hair, and wearing blue jeans , who left the area in unknown direction of travel.
We remind you to increase your overall safety by being cautious and looking out for one another; being aware of your surroundings and looking assertive; walking with a trusted friend or co-worker, when possible; if a situation makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, choose an alternative.

Ohio State encourages anyone with additional information on the incident to call University Police at 292-2121 or Columbus Police at 645-4545. Anonymous info can also be reported to Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 461-TIPS or the University Crime Stoppers Tips line at 247-TIPS.  (jj)
