Authorities searching for “Sweet Tooth Swindler”
Eleven days before the holiday this year, authorities say that 45 year-old Gary Lee Boling, Jr marched into a South Side grocery store, loaded a cart with $180 worth of Easter candy (and a $9 bottle of vodka) and made his way to the exit. He was arrested and faced charges of theft, driving under a suspension and operating a vehicle without a license.
Boling later failed to appear in court to answer the charges and warrants were issued for his arrest. Police have been unable to find him.
With another candy-coated holiday just around the corner (Halloween), Columbus City Attorney Richard C. Pfeiffer Jr has named Boling fugitive of the week…a distinction sure to be included the next time that the suspected candy crook updates his resume.
Anyone with information on Boling’s whereabouts is asked to call 614.645.8874. (jj)
