Customer opens fire on shoplifting suspect

A customer who says that he witnessed someone steal a case of beer from a local Speedway gas station pursued the suspect. The pursuit ended with gunfire.

When the alleged beer thief exited the Speedway gas station near the corner of West 5th Avenue and Olentangy River Road early Monday morning, a witnessing customer followed the suspect outside and around the store. According to the person following the supposed shoplifter, the suspect pulled a gun on him. At that point, the follower pulled his own gun and fired a shot.

The ‘beer thief’ got into a car and drove away. No one was hurt.

The man who fired his gun at the suspect has a concealed carry permit.
